Passengers will find the children's facilities at Edinburgh Airport extremely good, whether there children are young or old. Read on, when flying with babies or small children for more details including how each airline boards children and their families.

Children At Edinburgh Airport ...

Edinburgh Airport's children facilities mean that the pre-flight time spent at the airport is an enjoyable experience for all - whether you are flying with babies or young children. Here we give the specific details of the children's facilities at Edinburgh Airport so you know what to expect and how you can be best prepared.

We also give some helpful tips when flying with babies and children along with useful information about how each airline copes with families, for example priority boarding and seat bookings, plus children's in-flight entertainment.

Babies Changing ...

Baby changing facilities are available in all of the airport building including arrival, check-in and the departure lounge.

The facilities are in the toilets close to Costa in the UK & Ireland arrivals area.  And can be found after the security check points and by Gate 11.

Easily found by displaying the bottle sign or baby care symbol.

Eating With Children ...

Nearly all of the airport's restaurants provide facilities for children. These can include kid's menus and high chairs.

Also available are complimentary colouring and crayon packs available at the BAA Information desk.

Play Areas ...

Fingerbox - the children's play areas - are near Gates 2, 4, 9 and 11.

You will also find entertainment within the family area on the first floor Food Village.

Do note all play areas are unsupervised so all parents or guardians should be responsible for the safety and security of their children.

The Airport play areas are suitable for children between age two and six.

Last Minutes Essentials ...

When flying with babies always pay special attention to the things you are likely to need during your flight for your little ones - how about nappies, formula milk and baby wipes for example?

Ideally all things needed should be packed before leaving for the airport however, most last minute essentials can be bought at the various retailers at the airport.

Whilst it may seem like stating the obvious always make sure such items for your flight are packed in your hand luggage and not your main luggage!

Use of Executive Lounges For Families ...

Children's facilities at Edinburgh Airport also include, if children are over 12, use of the Executive lounges. Entry is charged at a small fee per person and provides a full range of entertainment like television and newspapers and a wide selection of refreshments.

Car Parking ...

When flying from Edinburgh Airport with children consider the by far easiest parking option - valet meet and greet.

Valet meet and greet airport parking lets families drive straight up to outside the airport terminal that they are departing from. Just unload luggage onto a trolley (and unload the children too!). Your car is collected from you by the meet & greet Rep who is waiting for you to arrive.

Your car is taken to a car park and then brought back by the Rep so it's ready and waiting for you when you have passed through Customs.

By using the Valet parking means there's no bus transfers, no queues and no finding the car in the car park when you're tied from a long return flight.

Pre-book your family friendly valet meet and greet airport parking - along with traditional short stay and long stay car parking - at www.HelpMeTravel.co.uk to secure the best rates possible.

General Airline Tips When Flying With Children ...

Here are some tips that families should find very useful when flying with small children or babies:

Ask for your meal to be brought back later if you are in the middle of feeding your baby

Change your baby's nappy just before you board, especially if a short haul flight

To avoid painful ears during take off and landing try and make your baby or children drink a bottle of milk or water. The constant sucking will help relief pressure.

Check with your airline if travelling with twins by yourself as normally only one infant is allowed under 6 months per adult passenger

Do note that children are not granted an allowance for main or hand luggage
