Edinburgh Airport brings both pros and cons for those living in the surrounding areas, from a large amount of business and generation of jobs, to air and noise pollution.

Living near Edinburgh Airport ...

Airport redevelopment at Edinburgh is expected in the future, with the continued growth plans published in the Outline Master Plan in 2005

More information about living in the area...

Edinburgh Airport is looking at ways to expand so that the airport can handle up to 25 million passengers by 2030, with growth of the terminal and general airport facilities.

Air and noise pollution is therefore a concern for the local Edinburgh community.  The Airport will aim to minimise the pollution for surrounding residents, however, it is likely that the airport expansion would have an impact on house prices.

Alternatively, the airport development may create more jobs and act as a hub for regular flyers, and so could have a positive effect on the house prices.  In addition, Edinburgh’s tourist industry would also be expected to grow.
